Maps for Investigative Journalism
At the beginning of 2022, I was hired by the investigative journalism outlet Forbidden Stories to build a web app for the one year anniversary of their revelations of Project Pegasus. They wanted to make the quite dense spyware victims and clients data accessible to anyone.
The revelations being international and based on geographic data we built a web interactive world map. The experience is split in two distinct parts. First is the explanatory part with a scrollytelling identifying the events that occurred during and after the revelations. And then an exploratory part where the user is given full access to the world map so that they find detailed description of every country’s involvement.
Over the next few years, I continued partnering with Forbidden Stories for other articles such as the one about the assassination of Gauri Lankesh. For that one I built an interactive graph of the relationships network that led to her assassination.
In 2026 I partnered with another media outlet: Public Eye. For them I made an interactive world map of the imbalance between pesticides being manufactured in Europe and exported to the rest of the world, while these products are banned in the EU.
